The Block 2's upper stage was a J-2X base Earth Departure Stage (EDS) instead of an RJ-10 based Exploration Upper Stage (EUS). The SLS's concept was quite different back in 2011: The Core had 5 RS-25 engines instead of 4, the pipeing was completely different - basically the same as on the Shuttle's External Tank.
